Our Mission

For A Rising Sun is a Haitian donation charity that seeks to promote child development and bring positive change in the lives of the people in Site Solèy, a shantytown near Port-au-Prince. These are the people who have been drastically affected by socio-political instability and the high inflation (and unemployment) rates that have plagued Haiti for the past twenty years. For a long time, the ideal course of action to helping the people of Haiti has been debated. While we still do not have a definitive answer, extensive research has shown that immediate and direct interventions aimed at the significant improvement of the day-to-day living conditions are of the utmost importance if we want to preserve the future of the Haitian people.

For A Rising Sun views the youth as the future of Site Solèy. Therefore, a strong emphasis is put on all our projects that deal with child development. The organization plans to target the youth population by affording the children of Site Solèy with supportive and educational programs that are both recreational and conducive to holistic growth and development. The success of these programs will be an opportunity for the next generation of Site Solèy to have a brighter future and become better contributors to society. The program will begin enrolling children at the age of seven, and the children will have access to all axes of the project. However, because of size limitations, sports like basketball and volleyball will not be open to the children until they are eleven years old. We also plan to open a professional school in the near future with the hopes that every young adult who graduates from the program at the age of seventeen will have a trade and be ready to enter the work force if they are unable to attend a university.

With our headquarters located in New York City, For A Rising Sun is a Haitian donation foundation that is mainly funded by the nonprofit donations of active members and occasional private donations.
